Sunday Chat

Welcome to our first Sunday Chat! I used to do this on my old blog, back in the 2010s (lol) and I’m excited to revamp and share it again. A few of the blogs I love do something like this weekly and I’m excited to have a weekly spot too. And side note, this header will be replaced as soon as I make one- so consider this one temporary!

This is post where I will be answering the specific questions you send to me, looking for links, ideas, advice, etc. Last night I put a question box up on Instagram asking for link requests for specific things- “what are you shopping for and need help with?” and you all sent SO many inquiries! So today to kick if off I’ll answer a bunch of them, and I’ll save (many) more for next week. I’ll also open it up to any other types of questions- advice, ideas, you name it.

And in the future you can always send ANY questions to my email for Sunday’s post. hello@danihampton.com Just be sure to put SUNDAY CHAT in the heading.

Okay, here we go-

Can you find me a non-puffer coat that’s not $$$ for a mama whose kids really miss the playground but it’s freezing?

Yes! Okay so I do think a puffer coat is the way to go and I’m going to suggest one that I really love even though you said no to that, but I’ll also give you some other options too! Here is the puffer coat I suggest. It’s SO warm and long, and doesn’t look like the typical puffer! I have it in black and love it. Here is another option, and here’s one more too, on sale! BUT I know you said no puffers so here are more ideas for you: I am BIG fan of a long coat with a hoodie underneath. I would do any of the Blank Denim coats with a hoodie. And these hoodies are pricier than say a Target one, but the warmth and quality are amazing! I wear them almost daily in black or gray. And here are six more coats I love: one, two, three, four, five and six (I know this last one is kind of puffer-esque but it’s a duvet coat if we’re being technical!). Also check out any of the Line & Dot coats, all cute. And I would 100% wear a hoodie under ANY of those that don’t have a hood. I’m telling you, it’s the cutest paired with leggings and sneakers. I need to be better about photographing what I’m wearing and this next week I’ll share more in Stories, this look in particular.

Can you recommend some sneakers for me? Good for the gym, running, weight lifting, any of it!

My most favorite shoes for all of those activities are Nike Metcon 7s. I can’t recommend them enough. Size up a bit if you’re in between. I’m almost always a 6.5 but take a 7 in most Nikes including these and Dunks. These aren’t legit running shoes, but if you’re someone like me who will run or walk within my workout these work great. For actual running shoes I would check these out. I only wear Nike, but I have heard great things about the On sneakers. I haven’t tried them myself though yet!

Can you share links for black overalls and hiking boots?

I got you! If I was going to get some black overalls today, I would get this pair. I can’t stand a super skinny leg and I love the straight to wide leg. Here are a couple more I like: one and two. This pair from Old Navy are so cute too but there is limited sizing, but linking in case you can find in store.

As far as hiking boots, here is the pair most similar to the ones I have. They have held up for YEARS. Not the cutest, but the ones I highly recommend. For aesthetics I would suggest these, but no idea if these are functional or not. I saw them in Into the Wild and loved them, but cannot vouch for them!

What do you suggest for places to get cute Spring tops?

I am going to suggest a few of my favorite spots and brands to get cute tops! One of my most favorites are tops from ASTR. They have really flattering blouses and tops that look so cute with high waisted denim. I like their style of puff-sleeved, square necked tops a lot. Other forever go-tos are Madewell tops. I like how they have a lot of classic things you can pair with jeans and throw on really easily. Here are some tops that caught my eye- one, two and three. And then look for similar things at places like Anthropologie, Free People, and Nordstrom. Very basic places to shop I know, but I find that I get really good classic pieces from there I can mix and match.

Can you find me some really cute sweatsuits for lounging? An upgrade from my Walmart cozies, lol.

Oh yes I can! I looooove sweatsuits. I always say, I am a sweatpants girl over a leggings girl. I won’t really wear sweatpants out of the house, but with some of these new cute sets I’m feeling better about it. Anyway! I’m excited to share some of my faves! First of all, I really like getting higher quality things that you buy once, rather than cheap things you have to replace over and over. So some of these may seem expensive for something like a sweatsuit but quality is everything! My first choice for loungey stuff is Lululemon. I love this oversized Scuba hoodie (I wear the XS/S in this), and these Scuba sweatpants. For cute sets, have you seen the MWL line by Madewell? I have a couple things from them, and they’re so cute and comfy. Mix and match! Also check out Alo Yoga’s matching sets for really beautiful quality comfies. For fun sweatsuits, and the blue tie-dye one I had on in SLC last week, check out Spiritual Gangster. You can find my tie-dye sweatpants there too.

What are cute pajamas I can bring on an upcoming girls’ trip?

So these Eberjey pajama sets are the only pjs I wear! I’ve talked about this before but I’ve tried the Target dupes and they do NOT hold up! The Target ones wash horribly, pill, and I would much rather spend $120 and have them last for years, than buy a cheaper pair and have them fall apart and look terrible after a few months. So! With all of that said, I highly recommend the Eberjey ones. Very much worth it!

What do you have for bedding? What do you recommend?

Funny you ask this, my MIL just got us the best sheets ever from Cozy Earth. I’ve heard of them before, but had never tried them, so I wasn’t sure if the hype was real. But let me tell you- the hype is so real! These sheets are insanely amazing and now I need another set. I’m getting around to redoing our bedroom and bedding is high on the list of what I’ll be upgrading, and I think I’ll be getting the comforter and duvet cover from Cozy Earth too. Pricey but another splurge that is worth it.

Okay, that’s it for this week! Let me know what you think about this new weekly feature. I am excited to connect with all of you in this way!

xoxo
