Read: If I Had Your Face

I could not put this book down! Set in modern day Seoul, Korea, If I Had Your Face follows the stories of 4 very different women- Miho, Kyuri, Wonna, and Ara. The chapters alternate between the women, but all of them are intertwined in one way or another.

One woman works in a Seoul “room salon,” another is a newlywed trying to have a baby, another is obsessed with a K-Pop star, and another is an artist dating one of the biggest heirs in the country. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Beneath those quick descriptions is so, so much more, and the author Frances Cha tells this character-driven story so beautifully.

Great writing, super interesting, and I really enjoyed being immersed in a new-to-me culture. If you do pick this up, do keep in mind that it’s a character-driven book. It’s not a thriller or a story where you’ll be glued to the pages wondering what crazy thing will happen next. But for me, I couldn’t put it down because I was so invested in these characters and I loved being transported to a totally different place.

There were so many great discussion points in this book- Korean beauty standards, female friendships, growing up, overcoming past trauma...I could go on. I liked this one a lot, and all in all gets a great recommendation from me.
